Best Acoustic Guitar Amp In-depth Reviews

People buy acoustic guitar amps for a number of reasons. Some want to plug in their electro-acoustic guitars. Others want to amplify their guitar with a microphone. The most demanding users want an amp that will act almost as a P.A. system, amplifying vocals and other instruments as well as the acoustic guitar.

The best acoustic guitar amps have XLR (microphone) inputs, feedback prevention circuitry, the ability to amplify more than one channel at a time, and some decent effects.

You can find out more about our choices below.

Behringer Ultracoustic AT108

BEHRINGER ULTRACOUSTIC AT108 Guitar Amplifier
Best acoustic guitar amp under $100? The Behringer Ultracoustic AT108

At a shade under $100, the Behringer Ultracoustic AT108 is aimed at those who want a practice amp for use at home, or an amp that can be used for very small acoustic gigs.

The AT108 has two main inputs (¼” jack and XLR mic), both of which have independent volume controls. There’s also a CD input which can be used at the same time.

With 15watts there’s plenty of power for home use. This little amp may also be used for small, ‘quiet’ venues. However, it may struggle with larger rooms or gigs with background noise.

The Behringer Ultracoustic AT108 offers excellent value, and in our opinion is the best acoustic guitar amp under $100.

Fender’s acoustic guitar amp is also fairly portable. Its dimensions are (approx.) 25 cm (9.8 in) x 39 cm (15.4 in) x 49 cm (19.4) in; and it weighs 8.16 kg (18 lbs). It should give you no problems getting to and from the gig.

Best Acoustic Guitar Amp Conclusion

We've featured our pick of the many acoustic guitar amps available on the market. When buying a new amp, work out what you can afford, and what you need from an amp.

Most acoustic guitar amps have two channels. Although these are usually designed for two instruments, many guitarists plug a vocal mic into the amp. Is this is something you're hoping to do, make sure that both channels of your amp will accept a mic input (if your acoustic guitar is also mic'd up.

Also take an amp's size and weight into consideration. Will you be able to get it in and out of the car and up and down stairs?

Electric guitar amps are designed to be heard over a full band complete with drum kit. Acoustic guitar amps are often used in quieter, more intimate settings. Sheer power isn't always necessary: you're looking for an amp you can work with from day to day, and that makes your guitar sound the best it can.
